I think nesting hit hard this month–which is weird, as I never really had that with my first son. At any rate, I did pretty good with writing about halfway through the month, then around the 13th or so, I started slacking off. I think that’s the week I had two physical therapy appointments, a doctor’s appointment, and at least two parties to attend though too.
At any rate, I haven’t done much writing in the latter half of January. But when I was writing, I was really pleased with how much I was getting done–at least 500 words a day, most days more. Still not sure if I’ll hit my goal of finishing the Secret Project (MG fantasy) before Baby 2 is born, but I can always keep trying!
But, I also finished several crochet projects. Toby got a new dinosaur hat AND slippers this month. I’m halfway through the Very Hungry Caterpillar-themed sleep sack for Jase, the hat for it is done, and his bear hat is halfway done as well. Oh yeah, and I made a punk/cute-goth mermaid, just because (she’s for sale, in case anyone is interested…just shoot me an email.)
The mermaid I finished last night. If you want to give her a home, send me a DM–first come first serve, though I'm open to personalized commissions as well. 😉 She costs $10 + s&h, payable via PayPal. (Not suitable for young children as she has sewn-on button eyes that could easily come off with rough play). #crochet #mermaid #geekcrochet #underthesea #amigurumi #fantasy #greenhair #purplelips
Oh yeah, and we’ve been working on Toby’s new room too. It was previously a spare room/random storage room, so I cleaned it out (of course most of the stuff is now sitting in my office… ), wiped it down really well, and Justin painted it and made an awesome cube bookcase for it. A few rugs, toys, and shelves later, and it’s a fantastic little boys’ room. Toby slept there for the first time last night and loved it. I was a little nervous, mostly because I didn’t know how he’d react to something new, and how it would go with him further away from us (the nursery is right beside our bedroom, so he’s always been really close by.) We let the dog sleep in there with him, which made me feel a little better, because she’s super protective of him. Judging by the laughs and happy squeals that woke us up this morning, I think he enjoyed having her in there with him–and, judging by the hairs on his quilt, I think she liked being in there too, since we won’t let her on our bed. 😉
Justin’s finishing up in there right now, hanging curtains and putting shelves in the closet. That was our really big project to complete before Jase was born, so I’m feeling pretty good about it all–even though I still have a huge long list that probably isn’t going to get done. Such is life, though… 😉
