Last year I attended the first ever Realm Makers, a conference designed specifically for writers (and, hopefully sometime soon, fans) of Christian speculative fiction, whether it’s overtly Christian or not. It was pretty awesome, with some great guest speakers and panels (what other Christian writer’s conference are you gonna find a panel on horror?) and a fabulous awards banquet/costume dinner.
As soon as I heard that, my nerd came out in full force. I started chatting with some Facebook friends. And this is what happened.
That’s Amy Pond, Professor River Song, and the TARDIS. My friend Kat (River Song) kept calling me “mom” all night…
Awesome, no? 🙂 This year, since I didn’t have such a little one (Toby was only about four months old during the last Realm Makers), I thought I’d try a bit more complicated costume.
No, I’m not going to tell you what it is just yet. I’m evil that way. *snicker*
But I will give you some photos for hints.
And don’t worry, there will be plenty of photos at Realm Makers. I’ll post some when I get back.
H. A. Titus is usually found with her nose in a book or spinning story-worlds in her head. Her love affair with fantasy began at age twelve, when her dad handed her The Lord of the Rings after listening to it on tape during a family vacation.
Her stories have been published in Digital Dragon Magazine, Residential Aliens Magazine, and four anthologies: Alternative Witness; Avenir Eclectia Volume 1; The Tanist's Wife and Other Stories; and Different Dragons Volume II. In December 2013, her short story "Dragon Dance" won Honorable Mention in a Writers of the Future contest.
She lives on the shores of Lake Superior with her meteorologist husband and young son, who do their best to ensure she occasionally emerges into the real world. When she's not writing, she can be found rock-climbing, skiing, or hanging out at her online home, hatitus.wordpress.com.
